ISSA Mourns the Lost of Past President Roy Allan
Monday, August 3, 2020

QUALITY BRINGS QUANTITY WAS HIS MOTTO:
We are sad to say Mr. Roy Allan, Past President of ISSA, has
passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2020.
Roy was a valued member of the ISSA and of the slurry seal industry, as
a whole. Roy began working in the
California slurry seal business in 1965. When Roy first started in business, he
applied all products out of a concrete mixer owned by Gay Allan’s father of
Chambers Ready Mix. Soon after, he
purchased his first slurry machine in 1970 from R.T. Young.
Roy formed his own company, Roy Allan Slurry Seal, in 1976. His company is now managed by his two sons
Lawrence and Lance. He became a member
of ISSA in approximately 1976 and became president in 1990. His vision for the International Slurry
Surfacing Association was to create a committee focused on history. He also wanted to utilize the knowledge of
the past president and to put the resources of the past presidents into
action. As he put it, “Another resource
committee I’d like to tap into is our past presidents.” He then started the Past President’s Committee.
Our prayers go out to Roy’s wife, Gay and their three adult
children, Laurena Reilly, Lawrence, Lance and their families. No services will be held at this time.
