The 2021 ISSA Winter Board Meeting was held Virtually

On February 3, 2021, the International Slurry Surfacing Association (ISSA) Board of Directors met virtually for their Winter Board Meeting. The Board discussed current business of the association and the 2021-2023 Strategic Plan.

The Board received updates from various committees and the work being done. ISSA’s Marketing Committee has been very busy. They are working to complete a new Member Toolkit which was designed to help members in their promotion of ISSA treatments as well as a Public Awareness Kit which includes templates for door hangers, lawn signs, and social media posts. More information will be provided in Spring, 2021. Additionally, the Slurry.org website is getting a new look. ISSA will roll out the new site by the end of Quarter 1. 

ISSA has continued to partner with FHWA in various ways. The Board discussed the success of the PPRA/FHWA Webinar series in 2020 and plans to continue in 2021. They also acknowledged FHWA’s continued support for the Slurry Systems Workshop and their sponsorship of 400 State DOTs to attend the Workshop virtually in 2021. The ISSA Board of Directors held a Strategic Planning Session in October 2020. During the session, the Board reviewed the 2017-2020 Strategic Plan and discussed strategies to accomplish from 2021 to 2023. These strategies include:

              1) Be the Industry Leader for Technical and Education Support

2) Create and Promote Guidelines, Technical Bulletins and Industry Best Practices Resulting in Durable, Long Lasting Treatments that are Widely Utilized and Become Enforceable Specifications

3) Grow ISSA Membership and Increase Participation in ISSA

4) Grow Market for ISSA Member Treatments

To accomplish these strategies, the Board also implemented sub-goals for each. More information on the 2021-2023 Strategic Plan will be discussed during ISSA’s Annual Business Meeting at the 2021 AEMA-ARRA-ISSA Annual Meeting. The Business Meeting will be held in conjunction with ISSA’s Award Ceremony on Tuesday, February 16^th from 2:45pm to 4pm CST.

ISSA plans to hold their next Board Meeting in June 2021.
