The Slurry Systems Workshop is Taking it to the Streets in 2022.

The 2022 Slurry Systems Workshop is back in-person, January 17-20, at the Santa Fe Station Hotel and Casino, a new location from previous years, in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is time for ISSA members, non-members, and agencies to attend this industry leading Workshop and take what they learn back to the streets.

Besides a new location for 2022, another change to the schedule that Program Chair Doug Olsen has been working on is the Hands-On Day. Started in 2020 the Hands-On Day, Monday, January 17th, has increased attendee participation and includes three rotating stations where attendees will be able to act as the “crew” for the day. Registration is limited to three participants per company/organization and requires an additional fee. These spots will fill up so register early!

On Tuesday, attendees will hear from industry leaders presenting on the Value of Pavement Preservation, an ISSA President’s Award Winner, and an intro to each of ISSA’s treatments.

Additionally, attendees will be able to attend two Breakout Sessions on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning. These Breakout Sessions provide attendees with a core focus on Micro Surfacing and Slurry Seal, Chip and Fog Seal, and Crack Seal as well as Inspection for each. There will also be a Technical Session and Advanced Track which began in 2019 and is designed for those who have attended the Workshop in the past and are looking to dig deeper into specific topics.

Wednesday afternoon attendees will get to experience Demo Day! Attendees will view different equipment that ISSA Members manufacture during the Parade. After that, attendees will see firsthand ISSA Member crew’s demo various ISSA treatments. They will demonstrate the differences between each and the proper way to perform the treatments.

Thursday morning attendees will hear from industry associations sharing updates and recent findings. After, attendees will have the option to attend Group Sessions in the  morning and afternoon. These Group Sessions focus on Slurry & Micro Calibration and Record Keeping, Distributor & Chip Spreader Operation and Calibration, and Slurry & Micro Mix Design Processes. Attendees also have the option to attend the Hand Mix Group Session in which industry leaders will be demonstrating mix designs of ISSA treatments.

Thursday afternoon ISSA will offer their knowledge-based exams to help attendees understand what they learned over the three days at the Workshop. New this year, these exams will be offered in English and Spanish. Additionally, these exams can be used as a study guide for the NCPP ASHTO/TSP Exam that will be offered on Friday, January 21st. Please note, registration is required for all exams. To register for the NCPP exams, please visit https://www.tsp2.org/register/input.php?meeting_id=219.

ISSA’s Leadership Development Team will host a session focusing on Workforce Development on Wednesday morning during breakfast. All attendees are encouraged to attend.

The Workshop could not be made possible without our dedicated sponsors. If your company is interested in sponsoring, please contact Ali Mostardo, ISSA Senior Association Manager, at alim@cmservices.com for more information.
