What’s New at ISSA with Technical Director Chris Hollenback- February 2025
Thursday, February 6, 2025
Hello again everyone! Great start to the new year at the Slurry Systems Workshop about two weeks ago! Highlights include: Breakout sessions on Micro and Slurry surfacing, Chip seals, and Crack seals. Technical breakouts covering: Aggregate, Emulsions, Performance testing, and AAHTO accreditation. Application breakouts on: Use of RAP, Fog Seal and troubleshooting. We also had industry updates from: FHWA, NCPP, NCAT, Women of Asphalt. There were hands on demonstrations, mix tables that were interactive and even a beer truck! If you missed this years, I highly recommend marking your calendar for next year to join in on all the education and fun had in a short week of events. A change that was also discussed at the workshop that you may have seen on your own, is revisions to a few Technical Bulletins. Technical Bulletins 139, 144 and 147 have been edited after great feedback from the Lab Technical Team and the Revision Committee. We will continue to review these and make additions as the industry evolves. Emails are now coming in at a steady rate to the “Ask an Expert” section on slurry.org and I recommend continuing to utilize that resource as a great wealth of knowledge reviews and answers these questions as they are submitted. Short and sweet for this one! Hopefully I run into a few of you at the PPRA Annual meeting in a few weeks in Rancho Mirage, California. Chris Hollenback ISSA Technical Director
