This 14 mile project on Highway 30 in the Hiwasee Ocoee State Park in Polk County Tennessee was completed by Strawser Construction for the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

The roadway received a cape seal treatment, which is a layer of bituminous surface treatment or chip seal, followed by an application of the micro surfacing.  This process combines the benefits of chip sealing and micro surfacing and offers a finish that is similar to an asphalt overlay, but at a lower cost.  The bituminous surface treatment was applied using a CRS-2P emulsion (.26-.36 Gallons per SY) covered with approximately 20 pounds of #8 washed aggregate.  Following the application of the chip seal, a Type III micro-surfacing was applied at a rate of 24 pounds per square yard.
